Party Season Outfits: Dressed Up Denim + Effortless Dresses

November 15, 2021

The holiday season is in full swing. I got my first holiday party invite the other day and no lie, the hair stood up on my arms in excitement. Whether you have work happy hours, cocktail parties with friends, wedding celebrations or just enjoying time at home with family, I have two special occasion looks that I personally can’t wait to wear. I based these looks off of some reader questions so if you have been wondering the same thing, hopefully this will help!

Holiday Look 1: Dressed up Denim

Q: What do I wear when denim isn’t appropriate, but I want to wear pants!?

A: It does seem that we default to denim often (guilty) and that it has become more appropriate to wear it to nice restaurants. But for those times when you need to feel a little more put together, I pulled together a few other pant options. A faux leather legging, a silky wide leg pant, a fun-colored cord or coated pair of denim are all great options. When wearing a pair of coated denim try a dressier top or sweater to elevate the look.

Holiday Look 2: Warm Weather Winter

Q: It’s warm where I live, but I still want to feel festive for the holiday season, what’s a girl to wear?

A: It’s true the first thing I grab when I want to feel festive is a cozy sweater! But when it’s 70 and sunny on Thanksgiving a bulky sweater may not be your best option. I would look for a dark ground print in dress or blouse to get in the festive mood. A hint of lurex or an extra ruffle always does the trick!
