As I get older I’ve learned to look for things when buying skincare products and things that I can leave behind. But first, what is Squalane you ask? As if Biossance wasn’t tricky enough to pronounce, enter Squalane. Pronounced “squay-lane”. If you can’t remember how to say it, just remember that you need it in your skincare routine! This is an ingredient that is in EVERY Biossance product so it’s worth a few seconds of your time to explain. Squalane is a mega-moisturizing molecule – a weightless, non-comedogenic oil that instantly hydrates your skin. Our bodies produce their own version of this molecule called squalene, but it decreases as we age. In the past, squalane was harvested in ways that were devastating to the environment (it was extracted from shark livers), but Biossance found a way to derive squalane from sugarcane making it completely plant-based. It’s a little miracle worker that you can feel good about.
