I’ve got to be honest, skiing is not my most favorite winter activity. I mean I like it… I’ll go, but it’s a lot of schlepping, especially with four kids. Once I’m clipped into my skis and my hand-warmers are fully activated, give me a nice, easy, long blue slope and I would probably admit that it was worth the hustle. The most enticing part about a ski vacation, for me, is the aprés part. The part where you are cozied up somewhere rustic, laughing by the fire about all the epic spills you took on the slopes. Turns out, there is an entire category in the fashion world dedicated to just that. Aprés ski style. It’s a thing. Fair isle, shearling, faux fur….. yep, I’ll take all three.
For me, aprés ski style is sporty and cozy, but not sloppy. It’s fashion-forward and chic, but you can still curl up in it and relax by the fire. Once you have de-iced you can take this same look straight to dinner. The fabrics are technical, hello neoprene flares, but on trend. Nordic touches in the form of wintry patterns, paired with textural fabrics including but not limited to sherpa, shearling, fur and wool are must. Just add…… Aspen and a hot toddy? Here is my take on aprés ski with a look I put together from Nordstrom and their cold weather shop.
