Are you headed home for the holidays this year? We’ve gotten a few requests for some tips on packing for a cold weather trip. Whether it’s a quick weekend or the full week there are a few packing tips I always swear by. I always make outfits and fold them together – undergarments included! This way I can pull out an entire outfit rather than just having random items. I try to wear my heaviest layers so that I have extra room for packing lighter layers. Creating a color theme for your packing list can also help reduce extra items. By sticking to a color palette you can mix and match items for added versatility.

Easy Outerwear
I like to wear my heaviest jacket, but a statement plaid coat or shacket is a great layer to pack. This plaid jacket is an outfit maker. Pop it over a tee and jeans for a casual look or layer it over a sweater dress for a dinner on the town.

Dress Up/Dress Down Outfit
It seems that jeans are acceptable in most occasions – they are an easy dress up or dress down option. I like to opt for a darker wash and non-distressed pair to pack. These can easily be dressed down with an oversized sweater and sneakers or dressed up with a blouse and booties. Of course an easy cross body bag is a must for travel – don’t forget to use code MCHOLIDAY25 !!

In-Law Approved Pajamas
Even if you don’t actually sleep in these pajamas they are definitely a good thing to pack! I like a darker color or print. A great set is also something that can double as a travel outfit and perfect for lounging around.

A Touch of Sparkle
It is the holidays so something with a little sparkle is always necessary. Whether it is a festive dress, fun blouse or even an over-the-top blazer, a little sparkle will go a long way!
