Motherchic Tested: The Stanley Tumbler

January 6, 2023

If I’m being totally honest, I think I saw more photos of Stanley Tumblers in my Instagram feed this past holiday season than I did babies crying on Santa’s lap. Either kids aren’t phased by anything these days, or these tumblers are something special. I needed to investigate. My water consumption vehicle of choice has changed over the years. I’ve learned that I drink more water when the vessel has a straw so for a while I’ve been very loyal to my Reduce tumbler. It’s stainless steel, it keeps drinks cold (or hot), it’s dishwasher safe, it fits in my cup holder, and it’s pretty. Oh it’s also under $25.

I swapped the plastic straw out with these silicone ones because they are bent and really lends itself to lazy girl drinking. I can sit at my desk, have my water bottle in front of me, and the bent straw enables me to sip all day without having to raise my tumbler or extend my neck.

But the viral Stanley Tumbler… what is the HYPE!? I bought one. Ok actually I bought 5 because I wanted my sisters to try it out too. It was a gift with a motive… I wanted their feedback for all of you.

The tumbler arrived and my heart pitter-patted. They aren’t just an instagram fantasy, they actually do exist. And you guys, they are really pretty. I rinsed it out, filled it up, sipped my little heart out.

The verdict: LITERALLY the ONLY difference between the Stanley Tumbler and the Reduce (in my opinion) is that it is a little more modern/chic looking, but checks all of the same boxes….

It’s stainless steel, it keeps drinks cold (or hot), it’s dishwasher safe, it fits in my cup holder, and it’s pretty. Ok it’s really pretty.

Is it worth it?: If you want to spend $50 on a water bottle, it’s great. I really do love it. Are there cheaper items out there that virtually the same with a slightly different look? Yes.

And what did my sisters + mom think?

What should I review next?! Let me know in the comments!

I received one for Christmas. It didn’t even fit in ANY of my kitchen cabinets. I guess if you work in an office and can’t leave your desk it might be ok. But I’m retired and can get a drink whenever I want. I thought it was too large to even handle comfortably. I have an insulated tumbler that’s 20 oz from Walmart that cost $8 that does just as good a job. I still have ice the next day. I think it’s just the “new” thing so people that like stuff like that will get it because it’s the thing.

Did anyone think the Stanley water bottle was heavy?
