Spring Staples

March 10, 2023

Is there anything more invigorating than feeling that first ray of warm sun on your skin after a long winter? I walked outside yesterday and in my winterized flower bed, I saw a bud. I almost did a cartwheel. Besides the fact that it blows my mind that something I planted actually grew, it’s a sign that spring is not too far off. Despite that fact that we got zero snow this year (yet), it was still dreary and cold here for the past few months. Once March hits I am sick of my winter clothes and craving a new, lighter look. As we transition our wardrobes, I wanted to share a few staples that are important to have in your spring wardrobe.

Basic Tanks + Not So Basic Bottoms

Tanks come in many forms, but a classic scoop neck and a high neck silhouette are two that gravitate towards for ease and versatility. Yes, you can pair them with your favorite denim, or make it a little more interesteing with a trend item (cargo) or a gauzy skirt.

A graphic tee

Probably at the top of my spring must-have list – the graphic tee. I love showing a little personality through fashion and this one definitely spreads good vibes.

Lightweight Layers

My husband and I argue over our definition of ideal weather. While I prefer not a single ounce of chill in the air (a.k.a. teetering on 80), he prefers hoodie + shorts weather. Lucky for him, spring in Pennsylvania are just that so it is always important to have a few layers. I love this textured pullover in the prettiest lavender hue, and a neutral cardigan to throw over anything.

Statement Tops

I get it, you can’t wait to break out those denim shorts, but you want your look to be more intentional and styled. Having a few tops in your closet that “do all the talking” make getting dressed super easy. Keep the bottom half simple, spritz your favorite perfume, and out the door you go.

Throw On and Go Dresses

Ahh, the spring dress. Yes, you will likely put one on, walk downstairs and your kids will ask you why you are all dressed up. Your reply? LIFE! That is why kids, I’m dressed up for life. Here are two cute ones to wear for just that….

Non-denim bottoms

Whether you are traveling or just want to be comfortable, a great pair of non-denim pants (that pairs perfectly with your basic tanks) makes for an easy outfit formula.

Don’t forget your jacket!

Yes, I have officially become my mother. A spring jacket is definitely necessary for fluctuating temps.
