How to Create an Inspiring Workspace

Updated on August 23, 2022

Thank you to Shutterfly and ShopStyle Collective for sponsoring this post.

I LOVE MY JOB. I really, really do. I get to connect with women, try on LOTS of clothes, and tap into my creative side every single day. What’s not to love? Ok I don’t like the business side of my job (I never was a numbers person), but creating content is very fulfilling for me personally. Whether your job is innovative, analytical, medical, political, service-oriented, full-time, part-time, rewarding, stressful, challenging, and/or exhausting, I fully believe that you can’t achieve success unless you are inspired. There has to be a part of you that believes in what you do and that your work is making the world a better place in some way shape or form. While there are a million things you can’t control about what your work day will look like, you can create a work environment that vibes with you – an inspiring workspace if you will. Whether it’s an home, in an office, in a cubical in a classroom – invest in little things that lift you up, keep you organized and motivated.

Here’s mine…..

Yes, I may be surrounded by piles of clothing on either side, but this little zone is my zen. I incorporated white space for balance and pops of color, uplifting words, and a little personalization to make it feel like my own.

And good news….the price of doing business in a space you love doesn’t have to be expensive. There are so many ways to make it reflect your personal style without a huge investment. I am slightly obsessed with scouring the Shutterfly website and discovering pieces from their thousands of independent artists. Whether it’s a notebook, a planner or a personalized pencil holder, it’s so much fun to create one of a kind pieces and purchase designs that reflect my personal style.

My job requires a balance of planning and creativity so I keep a planner to my right and an assortment of happy notebooks to my left to jot down ideas and to take notes during meetings. I also have a few personalized organizers to keep supplies close by – and my most used work device (my phone) has it’s own pretty little charging station so I’m never running low on juice.

This is a space that makes me happy and maybe that’s part of the reason I love coming to work so much? It’s also WAY quieter than being home, but that’s beside the point. I highly recommend checking out Shutterfly’s independent artists and personalized office accessories to create a space that makes you excited about work – or a least sitting in a space you love 🙂
